It's the random turns that lead to discoveries

The first random turn was taking the N Portland-Willamette Greenway from Cathedral Park. That led to some new river views. But the surprising one was taking N Greeley to Interstate Ave. I ran into the Hazelnut Grove "shack" village. Apparently the city has given the okay to this self-ruled democratic shanty town that appears to be working well. While I was reading the story of the "town" on the fence, a guy got out of his truck and walked up to me. This was Erik Brakstad, a construction coach who works with Tivnu Building Justice. He works with students in their gap year who are interested in helping fix up housing for people who need it. One of his focus areas is Hazelnut Grove.

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
