Such a fuck-up of a day but yet a fabulous day . I set off at about 11AM from Athlone , and I knew I would be a small bit stuck for time but I knew that there was another train for Connolly 2 hours after that but I did not want to be there in Longford for 2 hours more and I would be tired . And it turned out to be very cold . Then I could have a drink! A great excuse . I was getting hungary at about 1PM and of course I was in the middle of no-where . But I did have something to eat in Athlone before I started . I does not make much of a difference what time a race finishes at as the light is not the problem . I had a really great cycle but I think I really overdid it as I was trying ti get that train which was about to leave Longford just after 4PM, so I knew I was not going to make it . I went to the Station anyhow and this train was on the track was "Out Of Service". So I looked at the side of it and it said Destination - Connolly Station , so I asked and was told it was about to leave , so on it I get and within a minute it had left , with me . This train did not set off till just before half but it said just after 4PM so I was very lucky . Thats only the first incident but now for the second . I remember going as far as Maynooth on the way back - the next time I remember waking up just before Dunlaoghaire . So off I get and got the ordinary train back to Landsdowne and cycle from there to home . But Jesus was it cold ? I was very damp and cold . But I asked these passengers where was this train going meaning where was the next stop but they said Rosslare . For Christ sake , I did not intend to sleep in Rosslare that night . But I was then told that the next stop was Dunlaoghaire and got the train back there . So I had slept through the noise of Connolly Station . I was however very tired cos it was a hard cycle and very cold . I was really going to change my coad into the summer raincoat but I am glad I did not . To come back to the cycle itself , it was really great exept when coming to Longford , but apart from that it was really great .
