I had a "holding patten" work day and I am glad it happens on such a gorgeous day. Sunny and cool breeze, time to ride. It is sluggish on Route 20 and 117 but that's expected, I should've do the loop completely reverse. Well, too late by then, I was mostly without trouble or danger and rush hour drivers were being more courteous than usual, must be the favorable weather. I stopped at a cross walk almost reaching to Concord center to guide two kids on kiddie bikes to cross the road. I command them being smart to just not cross the road even though they have the right of way. I wish I could've said the car should stop for you but I know I live in a car-centric world and not all drivers can see the cross walk in the middle of the field. The thoughts about it kind of makes me uneasy but I decide to pedal on. I merged onto the "Classic" quad loop at the North Bridge in Concord, doing College Rd., Strawberry Hill, West St., Curve St., and through Great Brook Park, maintaining a fast tempo. I know that Brook St., in Carlisle is closed to car traffic due to something wrong on the road, but I want to check if that's passable by bike. To my delight, Brook St., is passable by bike and I will use it for Sunday's leisurely paced ride to W. Acton with the steady Quaddies group. After reaching 225, I craved for ice cream and went to Kimball. I forgot that "Kiddie" size is actually half pint. Since the girl behind the counter challenge me by asking "do you want the last scoop" and I though what the heck, I have an iron stomach. I leisurely ate all my blackberry chip frozen yogurt and admired Buff the Power Bar Eating Goat, reminiscented the good old days when Bobby yells at me for eating anything bigger than my fist. Had a weird cross wind heading home but I powered through it, that could've been the half pint froyo talking but it did not slow me down. Arriving home, felt a bit nostalgic after the ride, but reminded myself that it is dangerous to back pedal in life, whether you are on a bike or not. Now the energy from Froyo is gone, time to figure out dinner. Move on, go forward, that's the directions that I am going.
