With Erich, Mark V, John West, some other guys I'd not met before: Nathan, Will, and Jim. This was a tough ride, but I was in somewhat better shape than last time on similar route. Left pedal damaged, and made embarrassing loud noise the whole time. Also trouble with rear brake which Nathan and Mark fix, thank goodness. Temperatures are manageable. We ate in Saluda, which really helped me. I got us slightly lost too with some exploration as we tried to take a shortcut on Green Cove Rd. It's nice to know finally how Green Cove Rd works. Heatherly Heights was a little tricky coming down, but I made it okay. We lounged by the pool afterward, and that's always wonderful, but I forgot to call Becky and let her know I was okay when we got back. The climb up Erich's road I will from now on call "the enlightenment". Saw a hawk by the road on Pace Mtn/Heatherly Heights, btw.
