Rode the 32 mile route of the Gosh Darn Gravel Gathering on a warm, cloudy spring day. Starting from the lodge at Five Star Retreat, in the first 2 miles there were two creek crossings/carries, then up onto the steepest hill of the route (which I walked due to riders stopping in front of me). After coming back to the resort entrance and through Woodland Park subdivision we made our way down Pinewood to Baker Hollow, which was a mess from logging and very sketchy getting down into but bucolic once you got along the creek. From there took Pinewood to the long uphill on McCaleb Road, then down to Blue Hollow and back up to Missionary Ridge. The 25 mile route turned onto Missionary Ridge but we went straight and ended up running into a big, white dog after turning onto Bear Creek road, then encountering a couple of washouts on Les Moss road for the only obstacles of the day. Turned right after Les Moss to the rest stop on Missionary Ridge road, then came back the same way to continue the route on County Line road back down to Bear Creek, then up to Tidwell Switch and back down to Bear Creek on the aptly named Bear Creek Valley Road.
