I had planned to do a longer ride and add the Highlands singletrack on the way to get an Italian sandwich at Sourdough and Co., for dinner, but my computer, specifically my NVMe SSD, had other plans. This is the drive with my photos and I was going through my China photos when the drive vanished from the system. I tried rebooting a couple times but it didn't help so I had to open up the case. Removing it and reinstalling it did the trick but not before I lost the retention screw somewhere in the case. I had to shake the case until it came loose from wherever it managed to hide itself. At the start of the ride, the weather was perfect but my legs were pretty dead. By the time I got to Cañada, the windchill was making it cold but when I got to Ralston Bike Path, my legs started feeling good. On the way back through San Juan Canyon, after I exited the Skymont Cross Trail, I noticed a new trail off to the right that I'd never seen before. At first I kept going but then I was wondering where it went so I circled back. Turns out there's a new singletrack called Crank that connects to Wood Rat Rebellion, which is also new as of last year. Like a lot of the singletrack in San Juan Canyon, it's very narrow, exposed, not really solidly packed, and often off-camber. It's fun but it would be way more fun if it was twice as wide so you had enough of a margin for error to really send it. Overall the trails seem to have a lot of loose gravel on top.
