What a difference a year makes. This time the temperature was about 30 F cooler, mostly overcast. We organized the ride with Gary Bowers and Dick Goodman of Seven Hills Wheelmen. We got about twenty riders to start, the majority of which went on the metric century route. There were threats of rain for much of the ride, but the early NE course allowed us to miss local rain that seemed to slide SSW to our west. This is a demanding ride with a lot of hills, starting with Waddaquodock. But it is a really beautiful set of rural roads with minimal time on state routes. I love the farms and fields, especially the one on Mason Road in Princeton (?) with the big glacial erratic. Climbing up Rt 62 is demanding, since we are normally screaming down it from Princeton Center after hitting Wachusett. The climbing from the about mile 46 to Princeton Center is a demanding bit at 80% through the ride. Felt a lot better at the end than I did last year, but that's mostly down to it not being 90 F at the finish. Everyone managed to finish and seemed in good spirits. It's a terrific ride I hope we do again in the fall or next year.
