Started out feeling pretty good; kept up with my companions without trouble and was even leading for a bit ... until about mile 6.8. Then it all came undone and the effort spent put the body into energy debt and that was that. Remainder of the ride was solo. Saw the companions about 7.3 and then not again til about 9. The climb up Col du Cool Spring at 9.6 was the usual suffering this time of year. Riding is getting easier as more rides are occurring and the body is sloooowly adjusting but it's still often frustrating to ride with people and be unable to keep up. Breathing was a lot better today but legs were shot after too much effort early. Weather was ... cool, with the temps in the 60s, but still didn't need a coat or much in terms layers. w/Dan, Mark
