Checkpoint. Cloudy and pretty much totally overcast, Cool but warmed up nicely over the ride, from 47 at the start to 57 at the finish, North/NE winds from 7-9 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. This is the annual doughnut ride put on by Pedal & Spoke from North Aurora. The ride started in waves, 100 miler @ 8:00 am, the 25 and 65 milers started at 10:00 am. I didn't want to wait around that long so I rolled out solo @ 8:40 am and modified the route somewhat to get in an even 50 miles. Nice, rolling Kaneville terrain out to Troxel then returned on mostly the same as the route out. Gravel sections were in good shape throughout. but it was a tough ride at times with the winds and it is fairly hilly. I stopped at 3 rest areas briefly and had 2-1/2 gluten free doughnuts. Taco truck back at the shop, had a couple of small ones. Stopped at Geneva Ale House afterwards for a more filling lunch.
