Strong tempo outbound and most of the way back until the temps jumped well above 100 degrees… I was managing the heat well until I slowed to club the steep Green River section to the 91 freeway. I suddenly felt off balance and fell. Didn’t feel like heat stroke… maybe way dehydrated? Once home the scales showed down 6 lbs! Didn’t feel like that but I was acutely aware that my body battery - 🪫 a Garmin Metric of how much electrical energy the nervous system is able to put out over the day. Garmin shows I was down to 5% from 100%. I’ve hit that number a few times in extreme heat in the past few years. I know the feeling of it well enough to know to gear down and not generate too much inner heat and to budget what I’ve got to get back home. The slow speed fall just bruised my elbow and butt. Tried to get an Uber as the fall left me feeling like it wasn’t worth draining my body further in such extreme heat with zero heat training beyond this exposure for the new year, regarding securing an Uber home, all levels of cars were unavailable. Call wifey and let her know what had happened and my condition and let her handle working on getting me a ride home. Getting out to Green River from Riverside by car is awful on a Saturday afternoon so she banged at the Uber app until someone came available and agreed to show up. Still a beautiful day and great performance for how little riding I’ve been doing while working on my secret project. Used a combination of vegan “Walking Tamales” and Dries Dragon 🐉 tears along with copious water and electrolytes today. Worked solidly 🚴🏾🧬🫁🦵🏾🫀🫁🏝️💗😊
