About the ride:
2 Mountain Passes, manageable long climb for 5 miles at 5 to 8% grade. The payoff of these climb are spectacular view to either Southern Quebec in Canada or the northern central Vermont valleys between the mountains. The descents are also quite fun (and nerve wrecking sometimes).
2 Lakes and many lagoons and marshy area, saw lots of weekend fisherman on the route.
1 Scarified pavement that is sketchy, but judging from the quality of the pavement of the continuation of the route that has not dug up, it will be smooth climb with big shoulder.
1 Beautiful Bike Path--Nice break from all the climbing
Plenty of dirt, but the dirt roads are in good enough condition, despite the rain, or some gravel presented
Many many friendly faces, whether it is the people who works at the controls, other randonneurs, or just strangers who happen to be passing by.
Self Retrospectives:
1. I finally visited Canada, albeit for like 15 seconds.
2. I conquered every climb that I met without major discomfort.
3. I appreciated the experience with greater respect to nature, whether regarding the unpredictable weather, or the wild life and farms that I seen.
4. I realize that Randonneuring is more of a mental challenge for me than a physical challenge, and I still need to be more positive and upbeat when the monkey wrench is being thrown at me.
5. I grew to appreciate the quality dirt road Vermont offered.
