Another stretch of enjoyable bicycling through Slovenia's rolling green countryside. Well-tended wheat, barley and pasture - often planted in small strips; maybe 50m by 250m. Most houses apparently built recently (in the last 30 years or so), quite large and with lovingly-cared for gardens. Very few old dilapidated buildings or ruins. Most villages with a fine-looking church (all locked up) with onion or double-onion 'spire' - and quite a few roadside altars and small chapels.
A short sharp climb at about km20 - and then into Hungary (with no frontier post or checks).
Quite quickly the agriculture changed - less pasture, instead huge fields in plough or planted to wheat, barley or maize.
But - standing alone and magnificent - a field sown to brilliant mauve-purple poppies.
Traffic changed too - with several lorries hooting at us and a couple of van-drivers shouting abuse as they passed by - too close for comfort.
