Great weather and interesting wind conditions. When I first got out, the wind was headed South East. But turned 180, half way through the ride. The body felt good from the start. Took very little to warm up. Banducci felt good, given the generous tailwind. As I was approaching the summit, there was road construction and the traffic was delayed a few minutes. After passing through, the traffic passed me. I made it to the summit, but no other cars or traffic mitigation to be found. I assumed that they were further down the descent. I decided to pass on the recovery at the summit, as I was delayed about 3 minutes from the traffic stoppage. I headed downhill, keeping an eye for traffic. Sure enough, on the fastest part of the downhill, there was oncoming traffic. So, I wasn't able to tuck, doing about 25-ish. So, I lost a minute on the downhill, by my estimate. The trip to SS was enjoyable. By this time, the wind had reversed. So, I was going into a headwind all the way to SS. I made my way around. Through the tunnel. I noticed I was doing good time. 1:18 hrs and change. I kept the tempo above moderate. From this point, I had a tailwind for the remainder of the ride, up till the last couple miles or so. Going through the valley was quick. Making it to Boss Hogs in good time, 1:18 hrs. The last climb was very fast. I was doing high tempo most of the way. Some traffic from behind gave me incentive. I was at 170+ BPM at the summit. I kept my momentum going through the false flat. Route 202 went slow, as there was significant traffic to mitigate. Once on OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good for the most part. I got my new helmet today, and was happy about the purchase. My kit is complete. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, next to none. Gear is working great, especially the new helmet. Other notes, no other cyclists.
