Planned ride with Silvi of 73 miles in Wiggle Chiltern Classic sportive. Started off OK, but then the rain kicked in with a vengence. And we were then riding in flooded tiny roads with gravel and potholes everywhere. Silvi came a cropper as she was passed by a car on a narrow section with flooded road, but the flood concealed a large pothole. She ended up with a large deep gash in her shin. We were with about 5 others and they were great the way they all stopped to help, and a car driver called for an ambulance and another car driver stopped and brought out his first aid kit, so someone could bandage Silvi's leg. Coats were thrown round her. Eventually the ambulance came and also a Wiggle car. We decided that Silvi should go to the hospital in the ambulance car while I go with the bikes in the Wiggle car back to base so I could drive to the hospital with the bikes. Trouble is it took ages to get back to base with the Wiggle chap having to help so many people with punctures and no mobile signal of course. Eventually made it back to base and drove to Abingdon, found the hospital relatively easily. S had been patched up well and was ready to leave. So, no Century ride for me in June. But S is OK which is the main thing, but off games for a couple of weeks at least.
