Memorial Day and intended to ride Vashon for 50-60 miles. Rode to Southworth ferry but boat was an hour late. Bummer as I had to be home by 4:00 and this lost hour was going to make catching the ferry at Pt. Defiance iffy. Met this 81 yr old man from Gig Harbor (Alfred) on a Cannondale bike who was also planning on biking Vashon. He is riding "unassisted" so hills are not his thing so we decided to head to Port Orchard instead. He's fast on the flats (for his age) so I decided not to use any assist to even out the field.
Suppose to be cool, drizzly morning with sun breaking thru around 2. Pt. Orchard seemed almost deserted for a holiday which was great getting thru downtown.
Hard ride this today, literally, as Skip had loaned me a Specialized saddle that he liked but by 40 miles my sit bones where complaining how hard the saddle was. It is going back to Skip this week.
