First time since Helene. Stunning, though not especially in a good way - the damage was approximately what was to be expected, but riding the river valleys and seeing mile after mile of a blown-out and drastically altered riverscape was still a bit shocking. So many trees along the river banks are just gone, the majority of the route is no longer shaded. It will never look the same again, and will take two generations for volunteer trees to establish themselves and attain some height. Jacks Creek is entirely repaved; some sections of Toe River Rd./Huntdale Rd. are rebuilt/repaved, but there is a big stretch just north of Phin Peterson's ( which is being rebuilt) where the railway is being rebuilt and the road is a wreck. A warm and ambitious summer ride regardless of the new topography.
