Cloudy, warm and ungodly humid start to a 50-miler from KHMS to Waterman. Rode with Shaun, Lee, MC, Kirsten, Robin, Tim F, Wally, Rob, Dan S, John G and Jeff L. SW winds in the 5-10 mph range greeted the group on the outbond stretch to Hinckley but the group worked together well. Rather than stop at the usual BP, we headed over to the nearby Casey's for a water break (much newer/better stop). I fell off the back with one other on McGough and came in a few minutes later. One rider decided to return back to the start while the remaining 11 headed toward Waterman. Roads in great shape for the most part except for Lee Road from Howison to Waterman Road due to recent chip seal. Shaun took 6 others with him "tile hunting" for an extra 7-8 miles while Rob, Wally, Dan and I returned via the planned route, enjoying a well-deserved tailwind push. The new Dauberman bridge over US30 was a welcome alternative and could open up new routes for the future. The four of us joined MC and Gene at Obscurity for refreshments. Five minutes after we walked in the door the heavens opened up.
