Well today was my Back From the Dead Tour. So far this year, everytime I get a good groove going life jumps in. Two weeks ago I get laid off and then a week ago a family emergency occurred. It just seems like I can't get any momentum going this year. Well with all the dust settling somewhat, today was going to be my first ride in 12 days. All I was planning to do was a nice easy paced relaxing ride down to Port Stanley, so I could enjoy the beach. So I decided to do one on my loops in reverse instead of my normal clockwise rotation. Well it all started on Wonderland Rd South, I had a red winged blackbird attack my helmet from behind. Talk about being startled. Then when I was heading West on Bush Line, I had a big Rottie come after me rather aggressively and and I hit the gravel on the side of the road and down I went. While I was down the Rottie was still hovering around me in a pretty aggressive mood and once I un-clipped from my pedals I put my bike between the two of us and start acting aggressive towards the dog and once I managed to get some distance between us, I took a picture of the sign with the concession number that they use for an address on the county roads. Once I started to go the Rottie came after me again so I had to put my bike between us again. Finally I got enough distance and proceeded to Port Stanley. Once I arrived in Port Stanely I stopped at the Buccaneer Restaurant for food and asked them for the number to their local OPP. I contacted the OPP and made a formal report on what happened. About ten minutes later, the OPP contacted me on my cell phone and asked how long I will be in Port Stanley and I told him that if he was driving down I will wait. So 20 mins later the OPP arrived at the restaurant and I gave my statement all over again. After giving my statement, I was informed that they had complaints in the past regarding the same dog from the same place and it has bitten in the past. The best they can do is a fine, and if the owners fight it, then I will be going to court. Other then that, splendid ride.
