Today's weather was real hot. In the 90's,. I was hoping for overcast, but no luck. I did the ride exactly as I had planned. Fed where I planned to feed and rested where I planned to rest. Doing Keene in this weather was extra difficult. Add the heat and sun and it feels like climbing at 8000 feet in the blazing sun. I was able to get over Keene by pacing myself without redlining. I stopped at the first rest stop for about 5 minutes, drank ate, and continued. I got the bottles from the mailbox and continued. I was exhausted and needed a bit of a reprieve so I took it easy for the next 10 minutes. I dosed my efforts by concentrating on what was immediately ahead of me. So, it was, Keene, Banducci, SS, CVR. I had a few ailments. My hips were a bit sore at times. Otherwise, there were intermittent soreness in my body which is to be expected on a ride like today. I was really concerned about how my body would react to the new pedals. My legs and knees felt good, but there's still lacking a bit in balance and out of the saddle looks awkward in the ankle area. Perhaps it's just the angle that I'm looking at it from. I'm not sure what else to adjust, but will sleep on that for the next few days to see if I get any ideas. Gear is working perfect, Gopro worked just as expected and no mystery creaks. Other notes, my sister is visiting so I'll have to adjust my training schedule accordingly. I saw about 10 other riders as I was climbing Keene. Looks like it was a club ride that started from the base of the climb. There were 2 cyclists with touring gear. I wonder how they made it on that climb. Looked like they had to be carrying an extra 40 to 50 pounds!
