Today was a welcome reprieve from the hot weather. It was in the low 80's and winds from the favorable North-West. Today was the second day that I used my old SPD pedals. From what I can tell, I feel more comfortable on them. I'm not sure if it's because of its lesser contact surface area, the rotational play, or perhaps the minute change from the height of the saddle to pedal distance. Either way, the bike was making less noise and I felt more comfortable. Tomorrow, I receive my new Speedplay pedals. No telling how I will feel on those, but I'm eager to give it a whirl. The bike ride.... My legs felt pretty good from the get go. I have lab tomorrow, so I wanted to take it conservative. I kept the pace nice and steady and stretched frequently. At times I could feel my lower back just getting that little hint of soreness. But it never escalated, partially due to stretching. I had good concentration with very few lapses. Balance was better than usual, or at least better than with the previous Ultegra pedals. It turned out to be a good average ride. I made it to SS in about 50 minutes or so and through the tunnel in just over an hour. I kept the tempo nice and easy to Pelliser and then lifted the pace just a bit. I made it to boss hogs in a little over 1:20 hrs. I did good time up the CVR climb shut it down just as the road hit that 100-200 yard riser. Going on Route 202 was a bit of a treat. There were very few cars, so I was able to sprint up to about 37 to 38 MPH. Fun stuff! The rest of the way was cruise control getting out of the saddle only when the road kicked up. Gear is working great. No mystery clicks. Gopro appears to be working well, however, I've yet to check if it recorded the entire ride.
