Bicycle Adventures Crater Lake Tour Day 4 - Audible. The original plan was to do an out-and-back to Paulina Lake from Sunriver. Morning air quality in Bend was around 180. Paulina Lake was over 200. North to Northeast wind blew fire from the Cram Fire near Madras south down the Highway 97 corridor. Upon consultation with myself and the guides, it was decided to ride most of the planned Day 6 route. Shuttled to the Wanoga Sno-Park about 5 miles east of the turn to the Mt. Bachelor main lodge. Rode to the lodge, then continued on the Cascade Lakes Highway past Sparks Lake, Devils Lake, then to the shuttle van stop at the south end of Elk Lake. The guides decided to call it there, due to poor air quality. I continued on another 5 miles to the original end point, the Lava Lake turnoff. Returned the 5 miles back to the van. Shuttled south on Cascade Lakes Highway to the Crescent cut-off then on a 12-mile gravel road to Miller Lake for lunch.
