Look out!!!! Today was all about climbing Lookout. Last time I road it (3+ years ago) was the first time I broke 30min in all my years riding that climb. Got up in 28:15. I had high hopes for today…until I saw 30min tick by on my Wahoo…then 31min…then 32min. Landed at 33:45. I thought I was feeling pretty good too. I’m gonna blame it on the “Mondays” and call it good. Still an awesome climb for the views. So amazing. Should have stopped to take photos…but…the clock was running. Paragliders and Hang Glinders were out and right off the road. Pretty cool. Felt good overall and once my legs recovered on the ride back down (speed was hampered by the cars unfortunately). Legs were up from additional climbing and did okay. Not a long ride today. Saved a bird…for the moment. Young bird was flapping around on the asphalt with its mouth open as we were riding past Coors and the brewery trucks were on our tail. Not sure what was up with the bird, but didn’t want to see it get ran over and I was worried it would get cooked on that road if we didn’t do something. Once the trucker saw us swerve to stop and curl back, he stopped too (he wasn’t going fast yet). The bird let me scoop it up and walk it over to the grass off the side of the road and it jumped out of my hands. Then Scott sprayed it with some water from his bottle. It could have flopped back in the road after we left (hope not), but at least we gave it another 30min to think about it.
