02/02/19 Avery Clawhammer Maxwell Cove Chip Pisgah

Pisgah Forest from Lower Avery Road. Avery creek trail juts off to the right off Avery Creek Road. The sign says Avery to Clawhammer and this is the trail to take. Also the point where Clawhammer breaks off from Avery is a log bridge across Avery Creek but it is further down the trail than was indicated on the route and trail was blocked by fallen tree. Instead of going up to Black Mountain Vista we continued straight on Turkey Creek Road to the creek. The osm map trail ends but the road, leafy and overgrown, does continue past the creek wher we had lunch.
