Basically this rout circumnavigates the New Vineyard mountains. The road on the North side was originally called the Talcott Corner Rd. and was originally settlement by people from Marlboro Mass.  It was bought sight unseen and was on the side a mountain making it difficult for people to make a living. The town was eventually moved down to where it is today. Many of the homes were moved by oxen.  The eastern end of this old road is very rough and should be done in dry conditions.  The southern side on the mountains is also an old road and was settled by people from Martha’s Vineyard. This settlement was also abandoned because of the lack of water power and the clime it took to get out of the area.  Both areas are dotted with old cellar holes and stone walls and grave yards.
