As always seems to happen when Dave and I go out, a simple ride turned into epic hell. We started on a too-hot sunny day. Just as we turned off of the Green River Road onto New County Road and started climbing the 8% grade, the skies opened up in an insane downpour, with lightning crashing all around us. Something about the electrostatic charge brought out a dose of common sense in Dave, and he insisted we turn back. So back down the hill we splashed, with minimal visibility. Fortunately there was only one car. As soon as we got back to the Green River Road it lightened up, so we waited for a bit, and saw hints of sun. It was my turn to insist, so back up the climb we went, in steady rain. At the top we dithered for a bit, and finally decided the storm would blow over. We continued on severely damaged roads as the rain slowed and stopped. Of course it was warm and sunny by the time we got to the covered bridge. Unfortunately, my phone took on water and was reluctant to help with navigation. It was in sorry shape by the time I got home: no sound, flaky touch screen, and frequent spontaneous reboots. I opened it up to dry, and as of the next morning, it looks like it'll survive. As will we.
