Ilion, NY to Amsterdam, NY
It was a wild night of camping at the Ilion Marina last night. It seemed pretty idyllic at first with lots of shaded grassy areas, showers, etc. We waited until the sun went down to get into the tent because it was still very hot and humid out. By the time we went to bed the street lamps came on and it was like another sun shining down on our tent. We wanted to sleep without the rain fly to get more air movement but there was too much light. So, we put on the fly to make it a little darker. We were between two expressways, too, and on a Saturday night, they were pretty busy with loud cars. Oh, and there was a busy train line nearby so there were train horns blowing all night long. And, the bugs and other critters all had something to say, and loudly.

The morning was nice and cool, we made good time to our second breakfast stop in Fort Plain. The Fiddlehead Craft Sandwich shop had really good food but, bummer, they no longer can afford to hire dishwashing staff so they now use all disposable things. It seems to be a thing out here and no one seems to think twice about generating SO MUCH TRASH. Sigh. We stopped by the hardware store in town to get some lubricant for my bike, which has an intermittent scrunching, squeeking, sound coming out of the rear wheel. I thought it was the new cassette, but I tightened that up in Canada. I suspect the bearings are wearing out, or some other bits within the hub. I don't have the tools to rebuild it with me so I am putting drops of oil in as many hard to reach areas on the hub as possible.
We stopped to take some pictures in Canajoharie, a place where my college buddy, @Gary Hansen, lived and has family history. We had a San Francisco style hill climb to get to our hotel for the night. It felt good to stand up and get out of breath for a change. Laundry night and also it started raining after our walk back from dinner. Tomorrow is supposed to be no-rain but Wednesday and Sunday look like rain during the day.

We stayed at the Microtel also. By the way, I had to walk up the hills towards the Microtel.
Yeah, that hill was super steep, just look at the elevation profile on this activity! As I recall, the Microtel was a nice one.
