Cold morning start but somewhat manageable. Although I prepared badly for it and only had my summer shoes with no covers or anything and my toes were numb for the first half of the day. Also it was crazy windy, thankfully the route was sheltered pretty well with trees and hills and such. The Little River canyon was amazing. It was really, really pretty and had basically zero traffic and was pretty easy riding since it was fairly flat but with lots of curves. I decided to press on from where I had planned to camp on to Desoto State park about 10 miles further to save having to to those miles on the next day. I was pretty excited about having a proper campsite and water and was looking forward to the store at the campground. Unfortunately the store was closed cause it was Tuesday, and all I could get was a soda from the machine. i checked in at the office and stupidly took the key from them for the gate... which I didn't realize would be so far away from the office, plus taking it back to the office would take me out of my way and have to add a fairly significant hill. The camping turned out to be super exposed on basically a cliff on Lookout mountain which would have been great had it been warmer but with a hellish north wind (of course the cliff was facing north), and temps forecast to be in the teens that night, it was to be a very cold night. There was no one camped that night of course so I had my pick of the sites. There actually wasn't very much cover to block the wind but I did what I could and stealthed behind some bushes that blocked the wind a little bit.
