Wow! Coming out of a nasty case of Lyme disease following a piss-poor riding season, I really didn't feel up for the D2R2, but I wasn't willing to miss it. I switched from the 105k to the 77/92k, and Dave, Constance, and Brian were all up for the ride. I figured the 77k would be a stretch for me, but we decided not to make the call on 77k vs 92k until we got to the decision point at the top of the ride. I was feeling surprisingly good by then, and we all ended up leaning toward the longer route, so we did it, with only momentary regrets on some of the hairiest climbs. What a beautiful route--it was a stellar mix of dirt roads, somewhat technical double-track, discontinued roads, and twisty little low-traffic paved roads. We did 0.3 mi on Route 112, which made the rest of the ride feel that much sweeter. The day was sparkling, and the scenery was stunning, and nearly all new biking territory for me. I'm feeling a lot more tired and a lot less old than I was a couple of days ago.
