First day of fall and perfect conditions for a ride, The Six Covered Bridges. Start from Pioneer Park in Stayton. First bridge, on Camp Morrison Drive and Bilyeu Den County Park, is at mile 10.9. Second bridge, Shimanek, is at mile 15.0. Crystal clear air and minimal wind up to this point. Third bridge, Larwood, is at mile 23.4. Made this a full rest stop. A little wind started to pick up just after leaving Larwood and became more noticeable riding through Crabtree. Fourth bridge, over Crabtree Creek, is at mile 33.7. Definite cross/headwind on Hungry Hill Rd and Highway 226 into Scio. Fifth bridge, Gilkey, is at mile 43.6. More cross/headwind to the turn for Miller Cemetery Rd. One final short, steep hill on Miller Cemetery Rd then some downhill to Shelburn Rd. The final few miles, with more headwind, covered River Drive to Stayton Scio Rd and back to the park.
