Gunks Loop w/A through the Preserve

Excellent route on a day where the traffic is not high (not a summer weekend). Begins and ends at the bike trail parking just outside of New Paltz. This loop does include a beginning section of gravel on the bike path and final section of gravel through the Mohonk Preserve ($20 entrance fee). I rode this loop on 28c tires on my touring bike, taking it easy at times but definitely able to be ridden. If this route is taken you need to obey rules around the Mohonk Mountain House regarding where you can and can't ride a bike. The gravel and fee may be avoided by continuing down Mountain Rest Road instead of turning into the preserve. Epic route, classic climbs, great views.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
