I was a bit tired this morning, very doubtful it was yesterdays cycling .... More likely the IPA in Kellys Bar and the Sake in the Japanese Restaurant !
My rear tyre pressure was low so I pumped it up and set off and I cleared the Antwerp suburbs quite quickly.
It was yet again a great morning and having followed impeccable cycle lanes I reached Duffel ... and this was ironically the time to take my jacket off. Cycle shorts and thin top in nearly October !
At Duffel I found a fantastic off road cycle route following the river all the way to Mevhelen.
As I approached there was a factory with a huge white water tower, there were barges traversing the river on there way to Antwerp I guess.
When the route ended I hit cobbles and that back tyre was low again. I crept into Mechelen and took some photos of the Grote Markt and the Cathedral en route to a cycle shop where I bought some new tyre sealant for my tubeless tyres.
The me ganic suggested it wouldnt work but couldnt fit me a new tyre for 2 weeks !
I winced as I unscrewed the valve and fully deflated the tyre. I poured in the sealant, spun the wheel and pumped it up .... It worked !
I stopped for a salad lunch and an alcohol free Leffe of all things, which wasnt bad at all.
A difficult ride into Brussels followed and I wondered if ridewithgps thought this was the best route, I'd hate to have seen the worst.
I even hit the first hill of the tour - a massive 200ft climb :-)
