Met up with my Randall and Karen Swedlove and Mark Tyer at Central and Magnolia - they rode out from Redlands on their E-assisted recumbent trikes. We picked up Ben Rodriguez at ARTIC Bus Depot. Rode to Huntington Beach. Lots of stops along the way for lunch for them at Green River Cafe.
Randall, Karen and Mark rode onwards to Bolsa Chica to get a ride back to Yucaipa with Dallas Darwin.
Ben an I hung out at HB pier to wait for 2 of his friends from the Wrightwood who were hours late showing up. We rode to the edge of Long Beach and turned around.
I should also mention that there was a helic show going on out of one of HB’s beach parking lots.
I watched one of them doing high risk 180 extreme banked left hander over the HB pier then heading back to the take off lot just south of the pier.
Then sirens from up and down PCH and HB Fire and ambulances and all lifeguard vehicles flying southbound on the beach with lights and sirens.
That helicopter 🚁 apparently clipped a palm tree trying too come in for a landing too low and fast. No one on board hurt but 5 on the ground including a child injured.
So that made for an interesting detour inland to get back to the Santa Ana River trail.
I should
Ben and I tapped out the last miles to the ARTIC bus depot. Traffic getting home was very navigable.
Over all it was a great low key day also mention that we encountered an almost mile long mob on the HB trail focused around the “Honky Tonk” bar and grill with one entire parking lot for thousands of Harley Davidson bikers and groups chanting Jesus stuff.
It wasn’t until we were completely immersed in the mob that I realized it was a MAGA cult gathering complete with paraphernalia for sale.
I was glad to finally reach the other side of the drunken and zombie wandering like crowds. On the way back took to PCH to avoid thst nonsense.
