Totally enjoyable day, despite (or maybe because of) the rain, cold, hail, snakes, and rocks.
Started out with a sunny and warm day at Shin-Matsuda. Climbed up to the mountain road taking us over to Tanzawa. Scored a couple tiles. The road over to Tanzawa lake was paved all the way and relatively clear of debris, however, one flat did manage to happen.
Next, climbed up from the eastern tip of Tanzawa lake to the first of the trails for the day. This climb went fine and one snake was spotted, one tile bagged.
Next, back down to the fork and back up again. Climbing higher and ignoring any and all of the numerous warning signs, as usual, we pressed on. "What's that in the sky, you say?" "Rain clouds, you say?" Bah, hum-bug. On we go.
It was now that we encountered The Tunnel. This thing was dark. No problem. But next was a gate. A serious gate. No way around. Drat! Back we go through the tunnel hoping for a passable detour. It was not to be. So, tile denied, we decided to turn back. And at this point, little raindrops appeared.
Not wanting to get caught in a spring rainfall, we began descending as fast as possible. But the rain was picking up and a storm was brewing. Next thing we know, it is hailing. We wait out the storm as hail pings off our helmets. Stayed dry with the help of my rinko bag.
We continue the descent down to Yaga then on to Shin-Matsuda where I rinko back.
