The first part of my ride Kicked my butt, I was 8 miles of headwind and being on the MTB I was like a Parachute into the wind besides that it worked a total different part of my legs! I had a good rest waiting for my riding partner for the off road trail riding section of the ride. We heading down the Pemberton Railroad Trail to Smithville Historic Trails and rode al the trails there, which was interesting and fun! We had to get off the bikes at several sections for safety and to get over logs and steps going uphill. Once we were finished venturing on every trail available we headed back. It was easily a 2 to 3 bottles trek and I only brought 1 bottle because I wasn't expecting to do all this riding. on the way back we took a slightly different trial towards the end and near the end we again had to dismount the bikes because there were 2 trees that fell across the trail and the only way to get thru was to go under the trees. with my bad knees and back this was not an easy task for me but with the help of my partner I was able to under thru partially dragging my bike, LOL! Another rest at the meetup point the off I went home for the last 8.5+ miles, I worked it as has as I could with some cross and headwinds at the start but I knew there would be some tailwind greet me, it was a welcomed help! I knew I was in trouble when my legs started to cramp! I soon forgot about the cramping as now I was pushing to get home. I was very happy to be back home I had to spend some time making a few repairs to the bike, removing all the ride gadgets that I mount on the bikes before each ride and freezing in the now very cold temps. What a great day for a ride and my first one in 2 weeks. I had tweaked my lower back twice moving 2 lawn tractors and other heavy objects, I got to do what got to be done! I wasn't sure how I would feel on this ride luckily the upright riding position and the seat post shock absorber made things so much easier on my back and neck! I won't be able to ride the MTB until I get new shoes, I noticed before my ride home the heel of one shoe was flapping when I was walking, when I got home and was taking my shoes off both shoes started to fall apart. They served me well while I used them. I ordered new shoes and should be here by the end of the month. Be safe out there and enjoy the ride!
