This ride had several issues to keep me on my toes! I miscalculated the ride distance and only realized it once I got over 12 miles into the ride. This "was", one of my favorite routes but not anymore! The road had been repaved and its terrible, it used to be smooth, now it is bumpy and like hard packed small gravel just terrible... I won't be do this route again until it is repaved with smooth shoulders. Several vehicles on this ride passed me way too closely and they had a clear opposite side of the road and few even revered their engines as they passed, this all happened on portions of the ride where the shoulders were none existing, still no excuse as other cars gave me safe distance. I also, forgot to charge the Di2 after my last ride that low battery signal came up. So, I did not change gears as much as would normally do to conserve the battery life. I did complete the ride with the critical battery level notice for the last 4 miles. During the ride I noticed, a scraping sound and it kept getting louder and louder. I thought it could be bottom bracket or jockey wheels at first, but did not stop when I stopped pedaling, then thought it was wheel bearings but when I stopped to to check for wheel play, nothing and the wheel spun nicely, I was stumped. When I got home, I checked for the scraping sound nothing. I had to turn the bike 180 degrees so I picked it up and pivoted around and placed the bike down and little hard and heard something that wasn't right! The front wheel was loose and could have happened on the rough bumpy roads. I think this was the cause of the scrapping noise. Before this ride I changed out pedal power meters to another one that worked with no issues. I may have switched them a while back and forgot. So now I put the bad one on my new to me indoor training bike that needed pedals. I also fitted this bike to match my other 2 road bike fit, before the ride today. I just need to put new bar tape and carbon mating pasted on the bar, new stem, new headset extender and it will be ready to ride. What a day, a productive and successful day! Be safe out there and enjoy the ride...
