My hyperactive optimism led me to believe I could ride at least one Horseshoe Mtn circuit before a huge rain storm arrived. Wrong! I made it to the top only to be greeted with a boiling, dark, and ominous storm quickly approaching from the west. I turned around hoping to find refuge at my uncle and aunt's house nearby in Greenbrier. Though the storm had turned the morning back to night I arrived ahead of the wind and rain only to discover Jurl and Mary Ann were apparently still in bed (no lights). I raced on to a nearby grocery storm and waited on Cindy to rescue me all the while I inhaled the second hand smoke of store employees outside on break. But, I stayed reasonably dry while waiting on my rescue.
