A really beautiful day today. Bob added quite a few new roads (mostly in Los Altos) that were all really nice.
I didn't know we were going to stop at GK Pastry and I was still a little full from breakfast. A bunch of stuff looked interesting but they were all too big so I just went with a chocolate croissant. It was just okay.
One of the new roads was one of the three ways to enter Westridge from Alpine Rd. I've done the other two - Golden Oak, the NE entrance and Hillbrook to the SW. Sausal via the other end of Golden Oak was right in the middle, steepness/difficulty-wise. Hillbrook's the easiest way up.
At the start of the ride, Bob warned us that his drivetrain was noisy because he had freshly waxed his chain. He mentioned that it didn't normally make this much noise. It sounded like someone put a playing card in his spokes.
When we got to Sawyer Camp Trail, we stopped to use the restroom which is when Bob discovered he'd put the chain back on incorrectly. It was running outside of the cage between the two rear derailleur pulleys. Everyone's done it but that fact that he rode it and it felt normal to him - well it all makes sense now. Bob would always be skeptical and make fun of me for noticing millimeter differences in my saddle height. I always thought he was crazy for not being able to tell the difference. Well I've done what he's done when installing the chain, only I notice right away that it's harder to pedal. So like I said, it makes so much more sense now.
Sage Bakehouse was doing a popup at the start of Sawyer Camp Trail today but they were only supposed to be there until noon so we thought we were going to miss them but luckily they were still there. Unluckily, they were sold out of the sausage rolls. I guess it was for the best since I wasn't really hungry enough for another pastry. They did have spicy sausage rolls left, which Sonny got. I tried a little bit of it. Bob got the scone that I was considering if I wasn't so full. They're coming back next weekend as well.
On the way over, I spotted Derek and Sarah going the other way on 92.
Not far from this pastry stop was our lunch stop at Sancho's. Again, I wasn't feeling that hungry and thought about getting some slices of pizza from Speederia instead of a monster burrito. The guys got tacos but even they seemed big. Looking at the menu, the California Burrito was what I normally would've gotten but I knew what I needed was the Fajita Burrito. It WAS huge but, surprisingly, I ate most of it.
Our original plan was to head back via Emerald Hills but it was so nice out, we sat there for a while and then decided to take the more direct and flatter way home.
Bob was having all sorts of issues with his bike computer and at the end, lost the whole ride. Lame!
