Spit Takes, Belly Laughs, and Pastries w/Kira & Natalie ❤️
Natalie wanted to checkout the Sage Bakehouse pop-up at Sawyer Camp Trail and I've been wanting to go back too.
It was cold enough that I tried Emily's Ornot long sleeve jersey. It got great reviews. Towards the end of the ride, it was too warm though.
I rode the THESIS for the first time in ages so I could recon Sheep Camp Trail to see how muddy it was. It wasn't as bad as I thought might be but there were some puddles and muddy sections. It's definitely soft.
A topic that spilled over from my ride with Kira yesterday - how crooked her helmet sits and how it weirdly didn't bother me but today it's all I could see. Was Kira even there? I could only infer her existence from the crooked helmet.
I finally got to try Sage's sausage roll. I thought the sausage was too firm and in this case, I prefer it softer - better mouth feel. :)
Natalie got a pear-something handpie. Kira thought she got a handpie as well but it turned out to be a pie-pie. Brown Sugar Apple, I believe. It was good but at one point it seemed to either not go down for Kira or she was frozen in deep contemplation. Hard to tell which it was but it was funny.
Did a little photoshoot with the new jersey. I had and both Natalie and Kira take photos in which the autofocus immediately locked in on my crotch for one of them. :)
On the way home, I decided to take Salson Trail. They had closed it in Sept. to repair the washout and it was supposed to be complete in mid-Oct. I have been wanting to check it out. Well it's not complete and I was on the wrong side of the closure. I had to climb all the way back up.
Also tried riding with open ear headphones for the first time. After doing a bunch of research, I still couldn't decide what to get so I got them all: Earfun Openjump, Soundcore Aerofit 2, and Nothing Ears (Open).
Weirdly all these metrics lined up. They're in order of price, fit, and sound. The Nothings were billed as the best sounding but as they didn't fit well, they never sounded as good they could have. The Soundcores had the most bass but as much as tried to EQ them, the vocals never shined the same way they do on the Earfuns. Those were just the most natural, neutral, sounding of them all, ie. sounded the best, even if they didn't have all the bass.
