South and north plateau loops of Monte Sano state park in Huntsville, AL. Starting from the “biking parking lot”, took the relatively remote South Plateau loop CW to O’Shaunessy’s Point, then back to the North Plateau loop in a CCW direction for a figure 8 route. The north loop was more crowded with hikers and park facilities than the south loop, but had better views in a couple of cleared overlooks. However the North loop was also more treacherous and I had to hike-a-bike across a bridge through a steep ravine on that trail. These trails were unremarkable and typical of shared hiker/biker trails. But the hikers were all very courteous and moved aside willingly when I rode past. Also, no park entrance fee for veterans and only $2 for seniors!
