I still haven't managed to finish the new winter bike so I put the G-One Speed tyres on the cyclocross bike to give me at least a chance of getting round in a reasonable time. An early-ish start, the temperature was only 2°C but there was no signs of any ice. The sun came out at 10.00 but there was no benefit until after 11.00 when it started to warm up. The roads were very wet, but at least there's wasn't much mud. There were a few remnants of floods and a ford but nothing too deep. The worst was between Nether Whitacre and Whitacre Heath. After filling my face in Broadway my legs started to feel heavy, not helped by a couple of 20% stingers. I promised myself a coffee after 150 km and so when I got to Dorridge @ 155 km I found a nice cafe that served me an excellent Espresso, though I had to drink it outside, I didn't want to get their inside seating damp. This had the desired effect which lasted all the way home.
