Three weeks after that snowcrete storm (4 inches of powder with 4 inches of sleet/ice on top) the temps reached the 50s. And with the roads mostly dry, it was FINALLY time to get out on a bike that actually moves. Woods are still impassible and the trailheads we did check show zero tire tracks, so roadie riding was the right call. Then there was that stretch from 8.2 to 8.2 on this map ... that was a hike-a-bike section on an unplowed paved trail in Black Hill Regional Park that was completely unridable. Other county parks were plowed (such as the soccerplex) ... And being stubborn OGs, turning back was never an option. And then the paved trail around the lake was not plowed either, which was a surprise since it's heavily used by residents of that neighborhood walking their dogs or themselves. So we then had to maneuver through the neighborhood. Had the paved trails been plowed, mileage would have been somewhere around 15 to 16 miles. Short ride on pavement but for February, especially THIS February? We'll take it. w/Mark
