Sunny 80’s mild wind from the NW 5-10 mph
Felt kind of flat today - not motivated much…
Hispanic guy I follow on here came up from behind and we rode together chatting until 2 more fellas intercepted us from the direction we were headed.
They turned a round and we tapped out 18 - 23 mph and I peeled off once I got to 39 min into my 1 hr 5 min allotment for today then headed back.
None of you knows this but I have a 1/2 in or 12mm shorter right now leg than the left.
Up until I got rid f my last road bike - The Litespeed Ultimate, I had a custom milled out 1/2 inch alum cleat spacer or block between my right shoe’s sole and the SpeedPlay cleat so my pelvis sat level right to left on my saddle.
I hadn’t done that with the Canyon Dragon yet as I wanted to see how I functioned without it and dropping the seat a 1/4 inch to offset the difference leg to leg.
I’ve burned through the seams on 4 pairs of less than 2 months old brand new bib short chamois only on the right side sit bone area… which tells no matter how I try to compensate or shift around on the saddle without the shim, big miles and high watt output which puts more downward pressure pressures on the sitting area seam thread burn and burn through will continue to be a problem.
So I’ve ordered enough 2mm carbon fiber SpeedPlay cleat specific spacers to build up the right cleat to 12 mm or 1/2 inch using stainless steel recessed bolts. They should be here tomorrow. I think not only will this eliminate the seam destruction going on but put my musculature into a more functional and effective configuration to put out a lot lore power via the quads.
Hopefully I won’t need to drastically back down on power and miles to readjust to the effects on the right leg’s range of motion.
