A 25-mile gravel loop linking chalk tracks, bridleways, and short road sections through the East Sussex end of the South Downs.
The route rolls through East Dean, known for its flint buildings and sheltered valley setting, before heading along the cliff tops between Birling Gap and Friston., followed by a section through Friston Forest and Lullington Heath before descending into Jevington—a village with historic links to smuggling routes across the Downs. From there, a long, steady climb leads up to Butts Brow before making my way to the end marker for the South Downs Way in Meads before making my way back home.
The Climbs were mostly gradual rather than steep, but a stiff south-westerly wind adding to the effort and made progress slower over the exposed sections.
