Like most good guides, my son Michael is a strong cyclist. He crushed me on the climb to the summit. He is also a skilled rider. On a descent, the signs warned “cyclists, control your speed.” We sorta ignored the signs and not long after Michael overcooked an S-curve, skidded off the road, dropped 6 inches into a narroww ditch full of large rocks and logs. He remained calm and came to a stop before tipping over. No damage to him or his bike, just a little scuffed bar tape.
We had a great late lunch at Hook Fish Co in Mill Valley then limped home the last 10 miles. There is a short steep hill (think Grace St) a mile from his house. We decoded to race and weee neck and neck half way up. Then he turned on the after burners and crushed me again. My only shred of ego left is because he is moaning around the house, complaining about his glutes and I feel fine. Haha. ‍
