Bagtyýarlyk to Turkmenabat, Turkmenistan. 127km, 401m

Another whole day of riding alonh the hard shouulder of the new autobahn across the desert (30°-35°C) into a headwind; but less strong than yesterday - about 10 km/ hour gusting to 20 km/hr. (Had to put bike in car for a couple of km either side of the exit toll booths).

A headwind in a flat desert is remorseless - there are no hedgerows to give shelter, no dips out of the wind - and each passing lorry turns the headwind into a sand-blaster.

My shower at the end of the day yesterday and today looks like I've shed the beach into it.

Got to Turkmenabat with tired tired legs. Tomorrow about 125km to Bukhara - and it looks like there'll be a marginally helpful crosswind rather than another headwind.
