Felt pretty good 👍🏾
Was gifted with another bee 🐝 sting to the top right frontal lobe area of my head for the 3rd time in about 4 months and on the exact same part of the SART too!
When I spotted it coming across I thought in a split second it was just blowing debris like a piece of a leaf or straw. Then I felt it thump through one of my helmet vents on the front and then I felt its feet on my scalp and the stinging began. I quickly rolled to a stop, removed my jaw bones headset and unclipped my helmet strap and once I had the helmet off and looked for the bee to fall out or be in my helmet I saw nothing.
Then it dawned on me that it might still be attached to its stinger and I brushed the top of my head and there it went onto the pavement underneath me. The stinging stinging grew more intense which told me the stinger stayed behind so I rubbed my head with my hand and there it was. Rubbed it off. Took a picture of the critters suicide march down below and clipped back in. As I rolled off I could feel the venom spreading and the burning becoming swelling.
And like the other times I began to feel random itching on my arms, neck and spine and tops of my thighs. I took a swig of water and noticed it was kind of hard to swallow: anaphylaxis! So as before I decided to go on with the ride to see if I could filter some or most of the poison out of my system and counter it with my own biochemistry.
Felt pretty good throughout the rest of the rider ride until I got home and now that I’m cooling down a bit the itching is very noticeable and I’ve definitely got swelling on top of my head.
Oh well…
I should also mention that I’d kept this ride in the zone 1 - 2 range all the way pretty much and decided to wind up a finishing sprint and right as I passed 700 watts I rolled through a patch of glass and destr the rear tire! Fortunately I was only about a block from home.
Otherwise a nice sunny 90 degree day.
Welcome back Erskien 🦶🏽🦵🏾🫁🫀🧬🚴🏾☀️🧐👀😊
Update: been home about an hour and major signs of anaphylaxis setting in. Lower throat constriction, lots of raised whelps - inflammation top of the right side of my head, collar - upper chest, under arms down to my elbows and raised pock like itchy swelling on insides of both wrists, saucer sized raised swelling down the inside of both thighs and lots of raised pock like red areas on both glutes.
Felt like I was covered I fire 🔥 ants for a while then I took a cold shower and chugged down a green concoction my wife conjured up & the itching has gone from a 8 to 1-2 in intensity and the rash like condition seems to havee stopped spreading and the swelling is abating slowly.
Throat still touch and go but I’m able to swallow cold coconut water.
Man, it’s a good thing that was only 1 bee and not a swarm! I dont know if I would have made it back here if 3 or more had hit me like that!
It’s time to see a medical doctor about an EpiPen to carry with me.
I never had a reaction to even multiple bee stings at once as a kid!
Is it something contaminating the bees?
