We had a mixed bag of weather today. It was a little overcast when we left the hotel in Otranto, and then a few drops of rain fell a few kilometres down the road. It wasn't raining hard enough to make the road wet. We did start to feel a little coolish, so we put our jackets on.
A few kilometres later, our guide Patrice met us. The rain had stopped, and it started to clear up. We topped off our water bottles and packed our jackets.
At the halfway point, San Foca, the sun was out, and it was warming up nicely. This did not last; the clouds rolled in as we rolled along, and it started to rain when we left the lovely little village of Acaya. Thankfully, it wasn't raining hard enough to make the roads wet, especially in the old part of Lecce, where stones are used. I was afraid they would be slippery to ride on. We made it to our destination hotel before the rain really started to come down. Yeah!
Today was our last day riding along the coast. We took advantage of the fine weather and beach at San Foca to jump into the Adriatic Sea along with several of our other travellers. They weren't planning on doing so until I led the way. Sylvie also finally jumped in, too. The water here was not as warm as the water in the Ionian Sea on the other side of the peninsula.
We stopped for lunch in Acaya. This was probably a mistake because other bike tours had the same idea. I think there was only one person working at the cafe today. She made loads of dough. We had quite the wait. See the weather above.
