Saturdays…are meant for long rides! Morning rain threw off my departure time. Wife wanted breakfast and sent me on an errand. Sun shining bright high in the 80s and I’m out the door. Loaded a route which needed work. Started strong first 18 miles, sidewalks & streets bursting with excitement . Taxi driver by McCormick Place points and says I should be on sidewalk. Bicycle traffic started to pick up around Bronzeville and heavily just pass 18th street. I’ve missed a turn or three and wahoo had an attitude; wouldn’t stop beeping! Even passed by my old workplace Aon Center. Why LFT only Chicago park with working fountains? A bonus water was cold! Detour, detour path closed for construction; Lakefront path so confusing, even with separate walking & cycling lanes pedestrians still manage to wander in your path. Continue rolling to trails end, planned to hit Grosse Pointe lighthouse decided to head to Comrade shop. Cortland St closed for construction but allows bicycle traffic, very cool. Weaved through a few neighborhoods, road closures due to street fest season and overstuffed pannier. Bike extremely heavy and loosing stream quickly. By time I passed old workplace Anheuser-Busch/Lakeshore Beverage I was barely capable 13mph. Englewood was quiet unlike passing through Chatham all the corner boys were out & they’d bout their money. Didn’t have the energy to push for a metric or even .8 for even 50. Oh well next time. Today’s devotion; but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 ESV None of us deserve God's love. But because of His radical generosity, we can receive God's love! Regardless of what our life looks on the outside, we all start at the same place—we were once distant from God. And it is only through Jesus that we have been brought close to God, and are now part of God’s family. You have a way back to God, thanks to Jesus' sacrifice!
