Very enjoyable day out, marred only by serious chain jam with 10 miles to the end. Took 30 minutes or more to free - not sure how the issue was resolved but suddenly it was free. One for the pro mechanic I think. Otherwise there were some early climbing challenges to enjoy, despite minimal warm up. Whalley in mid morning was not gridlocked like last time but still busy. Excellent lunch stop at Ribchester Pottery Barn cafe plus the reward of a tailwind for much of the return leg. Final treat of the day was coffee and salted caramel icecream at Downham village shop, made even tastier by being told that shop had closed for the day. A sudden late flurry of trade from WE and a walking group made the day worth extending, I hope. Weather changeable throughout the day Arrived in some heavy showers which petered out through the morning as temperatures rose. Light showers returned mid afternoon as the wind got up, lowering temperatures again. A day of many parts.
