The ultimate two-wheeled, tail-wagging adventure! This ride has one simple goal--look at cute dogs. This route takes you to ten different dog parks and public open spaces where people commonly run their dogs in Downtown San Jose.
No dog? No problem! This tour is strictly for spectators and anyone who needs a dose of pure joy.
Bonus: Can you spot the herd of backyard goats at a home near Ryland Park?
Route Overview:
1. William Street Park - not an enclosed dog park, but many people run their dogs in the large open space on 16th Street. Each fall this park hosts Bark in the Park, the largest dog festival in the United States.
2. Selma Olinder Dog Park
3. Watson Dog Park
4. Cannery Row Dog Park - artificial turf
5. Ryland Dog Park - also look across the street at Ryland Park. Lots of people run their dogs in the large open space on N. San Pedro St., near Ryland Street.
6. St. James Park Dog Park - in the eastern side of the park, near 3rd St. between St. James St. and St. John St.
7. Hart's Dog Park - named for Hart's Department Store, a storied local business that once stood on this site. The business was connected to San Jose's most famous crime, the 1933 public lynching of the accused killers of store heir, Brooke Hart. The mural on the wall depects the store logo.
8. Discovery Dog Park
9. SoFA Pocket Park Dog Park
10. Paseo de San Carlos, San Jose State University - this pedestrian walkway is a popular place for dog walking (and SJSU students always love to stop and see pups at play!)
